An Emergency Order implementing an outdoor burning ban was implemented this afternoon for all unincorporated areas of Delta County, effective immediately for a period of seven (7) days. The extension of the burn ban will be considered by the Commissioners’ Court at a special meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The Order restricting outdoor burning provides the authority for the County Judge, at his discretion and under the advisement of the County Fire Marshal to rescind the burn ban prior to the 7-day period if the conditions that necessitated such restrictions be imposed no longer exist. The County Fire Marshal, upon consultation with the Texas A&M Forest Service, reviewing the upcoming weather forecasts, and considering the current reported grass fire incidents, has advise the County Judge of the necessity to implement the burn ban.
